Polymeric insulator consists of: A glass fiber reinforced resin core (FRP Rod) to provide the mechanical strength, while resisting the electrical stress. Polymeric (Silicone rubber) shed to provide the required creepage & stress reduction to withstand the stresses prevailing on the system. A typical method of construction shown in figure below.
