ARMOR-GRIP® Suspension

Information

ARMOR-GRIP® Suspension is a conductor suspension system designed to provide mechanical support and conductor protection at suspension points on overhead transmission lines. It is designed for various conductor constructions and reduces static and dynamic stresses at the support point. By distributing mechanical loading over the conductor, ARMOR-GRIP® Suspension helps protect against conductor movement while reducing bending stress, compression stress, and abrasion. The system protects the conductor in the support area against impulse and power flash-over arcing. Its elastomer insert is formulated to resist ozone attack, weathering, extreme high and low temperatures, and compression set, helping maintain performance in demanding outdoor conditions. The standard version is designed for continuous conductor temperatures up to 200°C, while the high-temperature (HT) version can withstand continuous conductor temperatures up to 250°C. For extra-high-voltage applications, PARROT-BILL® rod ends are available for systems rated at 345 kV and above to address corona onset and radio influence voltage requirements. The product can also be used for line repair where conductors have experienced fatigue damage. A specially designed ARMOR-GRIP® Suspension can be applied over PREFORMED™ Armor Rods to help restore the protected area and extend conductor service life. The single-support ARMOR-GRIP® Suspension is recommended for line angles up to 30°. For angles between 30° and 60°, the ARMOR-GRIP® Suspension Double assembly is recommended. This makes the product suitable for overhead transmission line configurations where conductor protection and mechanical stress management are essential. ARMOR-GRIP® Suspension provides utilities, transmission network operators, and EPC contractors with a solution for supporting and protecting overhead conductors. Its design helps minimise damage associated with conductor movement and mechanical loading, contributing to improved line reliability
