CUSHION-GRIP® Spacer Damper is an overhead transmission line hardware solution designed to control conductor movement, absorb vibration energy, and reduce fatigue in bundled conductors. Developed for Twin, Tri, Quad, and Hex conductor bundles, it combines conductor spacing and vibration control in a single assembly for bundle stability.
The product uses engineered elastomer damping elements to absorb energy and resist conductor fatigue caused by aeolian vibration and sub-conductor oscillation. It helps reduce mechanical stress and support long-term overhead transmission line performance. Its damping design can also eliminate the need for additional vibration dampers in suitable applications.
CUSHION-GRIP® Spacer Damper is available in Type “B” and Type “C” designs. Type “B” is engineered to meet IEC 61854 requirements while maintaining a lightweight construction and effective damping performance. Type “C” is a heavier, more robust design developed for demanding applications and severe operating conditions. Both designs keep the elastomer in compression to minimize stress and support service life.
A high-strength 1/4-turn fastener is incorporated into the elastomer-lined conductor clamp to support consistent installation and compression without depending on specific bolt torque values or break-away bolt heads. The standard version is rated for continuous conductor temperatures up to 125°C, while the high-temperature version is available for applications up to 250°C, depending on configuration.
Suitable for overhead transmission networks, CUSHION-GRIP® Spacer Damper supports controlled conductor motion, reduced vibration-related fatigue, and improved mechanical performance of bundled conductors. It is suited to utilities, transmission network operators, EPC contractors, and power infrastructure projects seeking engineered spacer damper technology for demanding transmission applications.
